Proper Tire Maintenance

Proper tire maintenance is of the utmost importance when it comes vehicle safety. Tire blow outs cause many accidents but you may be able to avoid them if you take the time to care for and maintain them. Being proactive in tire care includes knowing how to check tire pressure, measure tread depth, and how often you should perform routine tire maintenance. Here are some helpful tire safety tips:

Tire Pressure

  • Check the air pressure at least once a month using a tire gauge.
  • Make sure your tires are inflated at the correct PSI. You can find that on the door jamb. Over or underinflated tires are unsafe to drive on.
  • You should always check the tire pressure when the tires are cold or haven't been driven on in at least three hours.
  • Don't forget to check the pressure in your spare tire.

Tires have wear bars that allow you to easily check the tread depth. Wear bars are visible at about 2/32nds tread depth and let you know that you need to get new tires. If you have questions about your tires or need your tires to be serviced contact us today to schedule an appointment.
